Photo Fun Friday: Flamenco in Barcelona

Flamenco Night at Tabloa Cordobes in Barcelona
For Photo Fun Friday, I’m ending my series of trip reports from Barcelona with pictures (and a video clip!) from the energetic and highly entertaining “Flamenco Night at Tabloa Cordobes” show.

Located on La Rambla, the famous tourist promenade that cuts through the center of Barcelona, this show is presented up to 4 times a night in a tiny, brilliantly painted room. Stuffed into chairs circling the stage, it’s amazing how close all audience members are to the action. Which is actually a lot of fun!

He’s twirling so fast, my camera couldn’t catch him!

Between the crowd, the heat of the dancing, and the sangria being served, it will raise your temperature – but in a good way. 

Now, you may be thinking: “Um, wait. I thought this wasn’t the right area for flamenco dancing.” And you’d be right. Sort of.

This traditional dance of Spain originated in the country’s southern regions, especially Andalusia. But shows have now opened all over Barcelona.

And Tabloa Cordobes has made a name for itself by attracting some big names in the field, along with their very talented, very dramatic in-house dance troupe.

And here’s a short video clip I shot of the dancers, including 1 man who had the fastest feet I’d ever seen!

Hmm… maybe I should rename this to Flamenco Friday! :-)
